Cabana appoints a US editor, new executives at Bernhardt and Global Views, and more

From shelter magazines to retail brands, read on for BOH’s monthly roundup of arrivals and departures in design, media and more.

Retail & Manufacturing
Lenoir, North Carolina–based furniture company Bernhardt has welcomed Mark Stuart as its new vice president of residential case goods merchandising. Stuart joins the brand from furniture company Robb & Stucky, where he was vice president of merchandising.

Home decor brand MacKenzie-Childs has two new additions to its executive team. Kristen Schrieber has been appointed chief financial officer; she arrives from fashion brand M.M.LaFleur, where she was CFO and COO. Margaret Wakeland has been named the brand’s first-ever chief merchandising officer. Wakeland joined the company in 2021 and most recently oversaw its digital efforts as vice president of e-commerce, retention marketing and Amazon.

Henricksen, the office furniture manufacturer with locations across the U.S., has promoted Ryan Esche from director of business development in Illinois to principal and general manager of the region, which includes the company’s headquarters. The brand also elevated Kelly Hogan to vice president of design and client engagement in the Washington, D.C., office. Hogan has been with the brand since 2008 and was previously vice president of operations.

Stand Out For Good Inc., the parent company that recently acquired furniture brand Lawson-Fenning, welcomed Jason Edelman as chief operating officer of its home division. Edelman joins from design brand Duchateau, where he was CEO; he was previously the senior vice president and general manager at Williams-Sonoma and senior vice president of furniture merchandising at RH.

To the Trade
Home decor wholesaler Global Views appointed Aaron Johnson as senior vice president of product development. Johnson, an award-winning designer with a background in fine art, architecture and product design, will oversee product development across the Global Views, Studio A Home and GV Design brands.

Design & Architecture
San Francisco–based architecture firm Walker Warner welcomed Greg Mottola as partner and chief executive officer. Mottola’s career spans more than 35 years, the majority spent at architecture firm Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, where he served as a principal and helped grow the firm nationally.

Chicago-based Michael Abrams Interiors has promoted Gina Valenti to principal and partner and has rebranded as Abrams Valenti Interiors. Valenti, formerly the design director, joined the firm in 2013.

Ankrom Moisan, a West Coast architecture, interiors and planning firm with offices in San Francisco, Seattle and Portland, has promoted Michael Great from design director of architecture to vice president of architecture. Great has been with the firm for nearly 25 years, working his way up from intern.

Global design studio Perkins&Will hired Amanda Hertzler as co-principal of corporate interiors in its Miami office. Hertzler joins from interior design firm MKDA, where she was managing principal for the Southeast region.

Architecture and design firm Carrier Johnson + Culture appointed Marin Gertler as design principal and firmwide head of design. Gertler, who is also the founder and principal of real estate development firm Creare Collaborative, was formerly the senior vice president of development at IQHQ.

International architecture firm HKS hired Mitra Memari as community regional director at its Los Angeles office. Prior to this position, Memari spent nearly 20 years at ZGF Architects, most recently as a partner.

Media & PR
Kate Berry has been appointed the U.S. editor for Cabana, where she will work closely with the Milan-based publication’s founder and editor in chief, Martina Mondadori, on brand development, editorial strategy and partnerships. Before joining the magazine, Berry was the chief creative officer at Domino and chief content officer at Saveur.

Brittany Chevalier McIntyre has left Luxe Interiors + Design after nine years. She joined the publication in 2016 as design and market editor and worked her way up to executive editor. Before arriving at Luxe, she was managing editor at Domino.

Luxe promoted Kelly Velocci to executive director of editorial operations. She joined the company in 2021 as managing editorial director after overseeing the launch of a content and commerce initiative for hospitality retail firm Hotels at Home, and for over seven years, she held various editorial roles at C&G Media Group.

Architectural Digest has hired Catherine Hong as a senior editor at its membership platform, AD Pro. Hong was previously a freelance writer with bylines in Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, Martha Stewart Living, Galerie, Vogue and more.

Elle Decor hired Geoff Montes as associate editor. Montes was previously articles editor at Galerie and a writer at Homes.com covering real estate and architecture.

Design-focused PR agency Hello PR Group has promoted Catherine Santonacita to vice president. She joined the firm in 2017 as senior director and was most recently managing director, overseeing architecture and design clients including Marmol Radziner, Kligerman Architecture & Design, The Romo Group and Jeffrey Dungan.

Industry Organizations
The New York School of Interior Design announced the appointment of Tama Duffy Day as director of the Master of Professional Studies in Design of Healthcare Environments program—a one-year, post-professional program that helps prepare designers to take on health care interiors. Previously, she led the health care and senior living practices at global architectural and design firms Gensler and Perkins&Will.
