New York design studio John Pomp welcomed Jordan Murphy as brand marketing manager. Murphy was previously with Perennials and Sutherland for nearly eight years, most recently serving as senior public relations manager.
London-based brand The Rug Company has appointed Matthew Pober as senior vice president of sales for North America. He recently served as global sales director at Soane Britain, prior to which he was VP of sales at outdoor furniture brand McKinnon and Harris.
Sanderson Design Group, the U.K.-based luxury interior furnishings company, made two new hires. National marketing manager Maggie Walter arrives from Bard Graduate Center, where she was senior marketing manager for six years. Kevin Benejam joins as a sales representative for Manhattan, after a year and a half with Banana Republic Home.
Samuel & Sons, the New York–based luxury interior design trimming brand, hired Elizabeth Crowley as its marketing manager. Crowley, who will work from the brand’s Los Angeles design studio, joins from furniture manufacturer Jonathan Louis, where she held the same position.
Retail & Manufacturing
Louis Poulsen appointed Rick Leeds head of B2B partnerships for the North American market, a new role at the Danish lighting company. Leeds has prior sales leadership experience from lighting brands Ledvance, Lodes and Bover.
Virginia-based Bassett Furniture hired Haynes King as its new vice president of dedicated retail and trade sales, a new position at the company. King was most recently a territory manager for outdoor furniture brand Lane Venture.
Spanish stone surface company Neolith promoted Michele Ballarin to chief revenue growth officer after three years with the brand. Ballarin previously served as executive vice president for West Coast U.S. and LatAm distribution.
Toronto-based workplace furniture manufacturer Teknion welcomed Magnus Aspegren as its new chief creative officer. Aspegren was previously the chief innovation officer at Norwegian highchair and nursery brand Stokke.
Chris Agostinelli is the new leader of showroom experience for Tokyo-based building materials manufacturer Lixil’s Water Experience Center in New York. He joins from media company Hearst, where he worked for more than 18 years, most recently as executive sales director for the Hearst Design Collection.
Design & Architecture
JCJ Architecture announced three major promotions. Scott Celella, formerly chief operating officer, succeeded Peter Stevens as president. Stevens remains at the firm as principal and president emeritus. Barry Goldstein, who was Western region managing director, is the new COO. Moving into Goldstein's former role is Matthew Horn, who was senior architect.
Global architecture and design firm Gensler welcomed Stephanie Pons Reece as regional health care practice area leader, based in Houston. Prior to joining the firm, Reece worked at Baylor College of Medicine, where she researched acute myelogenous leukemia, and Texas Children’s Hospital, where she worked on program development for the Global HOPE Program in Malawi.
HKS hired Brendan Owens as its new chief sustainability officer. Owens, who is also a principal at the Dallas-based architecture firm, previously served as assistant secretary of defense for energy, installations, and environment. He succeeds HKS partner Rand Ekman, who transitioned to CSO emeritus. The firm also hired David Morris as principal and office director of its Denver studio. Morris had been design director and principal at The Beck Group.
Design-build firm Chapter appointed Ravit Doozli as managing partner of its New Jersey location. Doozli was previously the chief operating officer for Hap Investments.
Media & PR
HCG Media, the North Carolina–based parent company of News Now Media Group, appointed Susan Jones its new group publisher. Jones succeeds company founder Rick Harrison, who will remain president. Jones was previously vice president of business development at Steinreich Communications, and prior to that was publisher of Furniture, Lighting & Decor for seven years. In her new position, she will manage strategic direction, audience engagement and revenue growth across HCG’s publications.
Molly McDermott Walsh has been hired at Uprated, a British strategy and brand marketing agency, as its new head of strategy for North America. She is the principal and founder of New York–based Three Lines Consulting, where she has represented brands including Pantone, Farrow & Ball, and Henrybuilt.
Los Angeles– and New York–based firm The Consultancy PR announced two new hires. Anna Litchman is now account manager, after three years at Sharp Think. Samantha Zandanel joins as a senior account executive, and previously was with the agency UpSpring PR for four years.
New York PR firm Dada Goldberg has promoted Nicholas Boksa to senior account manager. Boksa joined the company last August as account manager.
Industry Organizations
The New School announced the appointment of Anne Gaines as executive dean of Parsons School of Design, succeeding Yvonne Watson. Gaines is the former interim dean of the School of Fashion at Parsons and since joining the faculty in 2000, the artist and educator has served in roles including associate director of the First Year Program, director of the Scholars Program, and dean of Parsons School of Art, Media and Technology.
