What’s the inspiration behind the new collection?
Vincent Van Duysen looked to the same architectural language that defines his work: spaces grounded in calm, balance and quiet elegance. Rather than impose decoration, he allowed form, proportion and materiality to guide the designs, creating textiles and surfaces that state sophistication. The result is a collection that distills his refined minimalism into fabrics, rugs and wallcoverings that feel timeless and deeply inviting. With subtle textures, tonal palettes and rhythmic patterns, the collection embodies serenity without austerity—luxury that endures through restraint, comfort and considered detail.
What was the starting point for this collection?
Building on the success of Vincent’s debut collection with Perennials in 2021, this next chapter began with a return to simplicity and a commitment to translating his architectural perspective into fabrics, rugs and—for the first time ever—wallcoverings. The foundation was drawn from structure: lines, grids, chevrons and rhythmic motifs. These were then softened with layered textures and a tonal color palette, creating product that feels approachable and lived-in. The focus is on materiality: delicate embossing, natural-inspired finishes, and a design language that elevates form and tactility above pattern.
How did the collaboration come about?
Perennials and Vincent Van Duysen connected over a shared belief in luxury that’s understated but lasting. Our conversations started around his interiors and how rugs, wallcoverings and fabrics could carry that same sense of serenity. Grounded in an architectural sensibility and accented by touches of art deco, Vincent translated timeless elegance into a fresh, modern language that’s clean, refined and effortlessly chic.
How do you feel this collection pushes the brand forward?
It expands Perennials into a more architectural, European style of minimalism that’s subtle and sophisticated, yet always underscored by performance.
What about the collection feels fresh and exciting?
For the first time, Vincent extends his language into wallcoverings, unveiling six designs that highlight the interplay of texture and material. His eye for balance and quiet elegance adds a fresh dimension to Perennials’ portfolio, reimagining timeless styles for every surface. There’s an irresistible tension to the designs: pared back but rich, quiet but full of presence. Up close, the textures reveal surprising depth. The color palette is soft and chalky, with mineral-infused hues that feel calm, warm and sophisticated. There’s a quiet energy to the collection’s use of structure. Rhythmic patterns, chevrons and checks all play on proportion through a softer, more measured lens.
What piece are you most excited to unveil?
It’s nearly impossible to choose just one favorite, but Waffle stands out as both a fabric and a rug design. It nods to classic art deco geometry while reflecting Vincent’s restrained, tonal sensibility. Bold in concept yet remarkably versatile, it reimagines structure through a soft checkerboard texture. Equally loved is Tableau, a new wallcovering that captures the look of hand-applied plaster. Architectural in character yet crafted as a Type II performance vinyl, it blends artistry with function in a way that feels equally timeless and practical.
Tell us about the materials in this collection.
All fabrics and rugs are crafted from Perennials’ 100 percent solution-dyed acrylic, delivering uncompromising beauty and performance. The rugs, largely hand-tufted, showcase the fiber’s luxurious performance, while a flat-woven rope construction with varied rope sizes adds a striking play of texture and dimension.
For our wallcoverings, we explored a range of innovative materials and artisanal techniques. Inspired by the weathered elegance of old-world concrete walls, Tableau is a Type II performance vinyl that blends the look of distressed surfaces with modern resilience. Grooves, made from sculpted surface ink on a premium nonwoven substrate, brings depth and dimension. Ashlar highlights organic texture with the look of hand-cut stone, created by hand-layering paper pulp. A woven construction of raffia, hemp and cotton yarns comes to life in Filament, where subtle horizontal striping lends rhythm and movement to a space. Stitchery offers a contemporary twist with a printed motif applied to vertical textile strings, creating tactile appeal. Finally, Tierceron introduces the timeless artistry of wood veneer, enhancing the natural grain of each meticulously placed panel with the richness of hand-stained inlaid wood.
Can the collection be customized? What kind of options are possible?
Yes, like all Perennials rugs, the designs can be customized to suit your project’s vision, with options to adjust both color and size to your specifications.
How do you envision designers using this collection?
This collection was designed with versatility and layering in mind. The fabrics, rugs and wallcoverings share a tonal language that allows designers to build calm, cohesive interiors where each element reinforces the other. The fabrics take on subtle depth through texture rather than overt pattern, while rugs ground spaces with quiet geometry and balance. The wallcoverings introduce another tactile dimension, echoing architectural surfaces with refined finishes. Whether used in residential interiors to create a sense of serenity and comfort or in hospitality settings where durability meets understated luxury, the collection offers designers the ability to mix, match and layer pieces seamlessly, with each element conveying Vincent’s signature calm, architectural touch.
