Plaster & Patina is seeking an experienced Interior Architect & Designer to join our growing team. This is a highly experienced-level, client-facing role ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative studio environment, brings deep residential experience, and can confidently manage projects from concept through installation.
We specialize in highly customized historic home renovations, ground-up construction, and full-home furnishings, blending old-world craftsmanship with contemporary luxury. Our work is detail-oriented and layered, requiring a designer with strong architectural drafting skills, excellent project management experience, and an impeccable eye for materials and furnishings.
Responsibilities:
- Create full CD sets for projects including floor plans, elevations, cabinetry, tile layouts, millwork, and custom furniture designs in AutoCAD and Sketchup.
- Must have a passion for designing custom and decorative millwork of ALL kinds.
- Lead furniture, fabric, and material selections, sourcing from high-end vendors and designer showrooms.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and client communication from concept to installation.
- Attend and lead client and site meetings, documenting action items and ensuring design intent is executed.
- Create and review specifications and presentations, including design boards, finish palettes, and furnishings proposals.
- Oversee and coordinate installations, ensuring all design details are executed to the highest standard.
- Source and specify interior architectural components including flooring, tile, slab, hardware, mouldings, and decorative finishes.
- Collaborate with contractors, consultants, and vendors to ensure designs are buildable, accurate, and cohesive.
- Participate in site walks and construction administration, problem-solving in real time and advising on design adjustments.
- Support in developing interior construction documents, details, and shop drawing reviews.
- 5–7+ years of professional residential interior design or interior architecture experience, with at least 5 years managing projects start-to-finish.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (required) for drafting floor plans, elevations, cabinetry, and millwork.
- Working knowledge of SketchUp (intermediate level acceptable).
- Familiarity with Studio Designer (or similar project management software).
- Strong working knowledge of Google Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients, vendors, and contractors.
- Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple projects, deadlines, and teams simultaneously.
- Must have reliable transportation for site visits, vendor sourcing, and client meetings.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and thrives in a smaller, collaborative studio setting.
