Pooky and Thibaut open at 200 Lex, RH debuts a Long Island outpost, and more

From Wyoming to Bangkok, BOH has gathered all the showroom news to have on your radar in October.

Showroom Spotlight
Let there be light (and color) at 200 Lex. Both lighting brand Pooky and wallcovering brand Thibaut have opened up shop in the New York Design Center.

After a year showcasing its collection inside ABC Carpet & Home, U.K. lighting brand Pooky is putting down permanent roots in the Big Apple. Its fourth-floor space at 200 Lex is set up like a curated home, employing the brand’s signature trompe l’oeil illustration and monochrome fixtures to make its statement shades pop. With different vignettes—including a pergola showcasing walls of lights and an outdoor collection with The Novogratz—guests are able to imagine the 150,000-plus base and shade combinations. “We wanted to create a space that captures what makes Pooky special—that sense of joy and possibility that comes with fearless use of color and pattern,” says Regan Iglesia, the president of Pooky Lighting U.S. “You’ll even find a selection of British candies throughout the showroom that gives the whole space this delightful carnival-like energy. It’s playful and unexpected.”

The showroom features the brand’s complete U.S. collection—everything from handmade lampshades to its rechargeable cordless lamps, sconces, floor lamps and outdoor lighting, with regularly rotating displays to showcase seasonal launches and new collaborations. A highlight of the space is a mix-and-match station where guests can experiment with different combinations of bases and shades. There’s also a display wall showing over 100 patterns and colors, and the space is lit by the brand’s own creations, allowing patrons to see them in action. “This showroom represents Pooky’s commitment to the American market and our confidence in what we bring to the table,” says Iglesia. “We’re not just testing the waters—we’re here to fill a real gap in the market for beautiful, quality lighting at sensible prices. As we’ve learned, there’s a genuine appetite for more color, pattern and personality in American interiors, and Pooky couldn’t be happier to be a part of making that happen.”

Meanwhile, head four levels up to the eighth floor and you’ll find the expansive new Thibaut Manhattan showroom, which just moved from the D&D Building. Spanning 4,200 square feet, the location, designed by New York–based designer and architect David Frazier, boasts a wide array of offerings from the company’s brands, including Thibaut, Anna French and Coraggio, as well as trimmings, custom Areas rugs and Armani/Casa wallcoverings. “We wanted our New York flagship to convey a sense of evolution among our brands, while also imbuing the welcoming and gracious environments our clients have come to expect from [us],” says Alexandra O’Hare, Thibaut’s chief marketing officer. “Our creative director, Bill Sorrell, and I fell in love with the idea and drama of deep cased archways that create moments of compression and define each of our brands’ and categories’ spaces.”

Before even entering the showroom, guests are greeted by what Thibaut calls “the veranda” outside the main doors, an area featuring two chairs wrapped in the company’s fabrics. Once through the doors, customers enter an oversize living room boasting products from the aforementioned brands as well as a selection of rotating art. Each brand and category (rugs, trimmings, sheers and textiles) has a designated space, and in the back, there’s a resource area with a book island and worktable.

Thibaut and Pooky chose 200 Lex for its convenience and location at the center of both the city and the industry as a whole. “The New York Design Center is where the American design community comes to discover what’s next. Since launching in the U.S. in February 2024, the response to our brand and product collections has been incredible,” Iglesia says of Pooky. “NYDC puts us right at the heart of the conversation with designers [who are] searching out quality lighting that doesn’t break the bank and aren’t afraid of bold choices.” O’Hare feels similarly about Thibaut’s new NYDC home. “With so many of our existing clients already familiar with the esteemed location, and so many wonderful designers we haven’t yet connected with, this relocation was a clear opportunity to elevate our Manhattan experience while also expanding our audience,” she says. 200 Lexington Ave., Suite 411 (Pooky), Suite 809-811 (Thibaut)
